3 cars all paid for. Live across from a cemetery never felt a need to impress the neighbors.

I feel like cars are just silent wealth killers. You’re making payments every month, but in reality, the car’s value is dropping like a rock.

I just got a car for $8000. Had it inspected by a mechanic and paid cash. Has all the features I want and was a single owner car. Couldn't be happier!

My brother got kicked out by my abusive parents at 18 years old. He had to finance a car to get a job, since he had no money. He's 21 now, and about to buy his first house; I think it was the right decision to finance the car in that case

People like to impress other people, that’s the main reason

I have no car payment. I have a 1995 Lexus LS 400, 1993 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible and 1993 Buick Roadmasters Estate wagon. All are maintained and run well. You don't need new. You need reliable. Keep a separate budget for repairs and scheduled maintenance.

My spouse and I bought a 2015 corolla in '21, with a little help from family, we were able to do it with cash. One of the best purchases we ever made.

You have two choices.... Put down 8K and pay 800/mo... That makes you look good and builds the bank and the dealership's wealth.. Or you can buy a car with the 8k and invest 800/mo... That makes you feel smart and builds your wealth... Up to you Sparky.

I paid $23, 000 cash for a 2008 Lexus GX470 with 12, 000 miles in 2020. I love it. I don’t understand people who ruin themselves financially for a car. It is so insane!!!

Dude paid more for a car every month than i pay for my 5bd house. I thought my $500 payment was high, i would literally have a heart attack with anything over that

I just got rid of my car loan by selling my car to CarMax and paying off the difference before I did that I found a train station near me that has a stop near my job. I haven't felt so free in a long time! I loved my car alot and cried when they took the keys but the burden of payment's being lifted off me feels way better. I've been learning to walk to my grocery store and i buy less snack and soda because i don't want to walk that back home. I want to be finically free and I couldn't do it with my high car payments and car insurance anymore.

$520 a month for us. It is our only car and was purchased new. We are not rushing to pay off our 2.49% interest rate (we decided not pay cash in full). My husband is not worried about it.

Paid my car off two years ago and finally had SAVINGS. Two years later I have a niceeee emergency fund. Would have never happened if I still had a car payment… and I learned how to pay myself first. Forever grateful to D Ramsey for that. 😊

I love the $90k Yukon pulling into an apartment complex example. Driving a depreciating asset to a place that will jack up your monthly rent 10 percent each and every year. I am a retiree, no vehicle payments, living in a mid-century modern home with a 2.99 percent fixed rate mortgage in a very affordable state. What state you live in has a huge impact on one's cost of living.
