It is a tragedy. However, it has motivated me at the age of 68 to sleep in a tent to assist in radio comms.
My comms team and I will be leaving the FOB today in Bakersville, N.C.
The experience has been priceless.
Volunteers are needed!
There are so many good groups and organizations that need assistance to serve these scared communities in North Carolina and Tennessee.

one thing the area is really benifiting from is the repeater on Mt Mitchell which is right in the area, highest peak on the east coast 145.19

Been a member of AmRRON for years. I’ve donated to Grindstone multiple times and follow Bear Independent on YT. Also, Guns&Gadgets, Skinny Medic, etc all have good info and do community service.

Amrron is a good group with extremely skilled radio operators.
I think you would be able to add to the Amrron Corp.

Great video Jason ! The situation in NC and TN is still very bad. Ashford NC and many areas hit very bad. Not all cell service is back up . I have some friends in NC and they ok. Off grid solar got them threw . Many still do not have running water or power . Their is many things that can be done from outside the area. Help with comms traffic, donations ETC. Their is a food shortage their. trucks can not drive in to restock stories. Friends of mine drive over 100 miles to go food shopping and get meds and stuff. A major road and bridge is out so a long drive around to a town with power and supplies. Hope they get on the channel ! This would be a big help for them. 73

I live here. I've spoken to some people who I know who have worked with Grindstone recently. I have about 10 meshtasric devices a hand full of GMRS and HAM radios and I'm a tech and GMRS ticket holder. I'm also an experienced construction worker who has experience with tree removal. I've been too swamped at work to do a whole week with them but keep us posted on opportunities. If they're still doing work next month keep us posted I'm thinking about taking some vacation to help.

Been wondering why none of the Ham YouTubers haven’t deployed to Helene relief yet. Seems like an awesome way to help out and make some intriguing content. (I don’t know how many have “real” jobs either). Been watching your channel for a few months and you signing up for a deployment made me a subscriber today. Thanks for the vids! 73 KE9BEW

I live in Yancey County, THERE IS NO FEMA BLOCKADE. I am a ham operator, I have no idea who this organization is.

My biggest question is why haven't you done the Amateur Extra course yet? Would be fun to see you assisting as a VE.

Although we are unable to travel, i can see a somewhat opportunity to educate, if allowed. Many stations will be in use, the public will obviously be interested. Might be a good chance to help some study by book, for the first test. Local public information officers (PIO's) ought to be available, along with VE'S to aid in training and test for the common public. Join up with the ARRL volunteers, help them get the word out. Make ready with printed information. Maybe there's plenty of amateur radio products via Amazon that could be brought in, to supply those new ticket holders. Help the same obtain their GMRS license and equipment for later use. Perfect exposure and educational opportunities. Like someone mentioned earlier, where are all the YT content providers? Y'all are missing out!

A lot of 2M and 70CM is being used in the area to facilitate work in the area. HF isn't really useful for short, local comms is it? If you need to talk to the state EOC from the disaster zone that is another story. Mt. Mitchell repeater on 2M is or was handling a ton of traffic.

AmRRON is the absolute tip of the spear when it comes to real world radio operating. I don’t know of any other group (including ares, races) that is half as capable of off grid rf based communications as amRRON
