"It just solves it"

This basically sums up the whole argument for the papacy LOL

The greatest irony is that by consolidating its own authority in the Pope, the Roman church did more to undermine its claim of infallibility than to uphold it.

By defining papal infallibility as dogma, Vatican I denied that the apostolicity of the episcopate as a whole was the source of the church’s infallibility. Meanwhile, by defending episcopal collegiality as the normative principle and organ through which the church exercises its infallible teaching authority, Vatican II totally undermined and made moot the papal absolutism of Vatican I. Where one sought to identify the source and summit of the church’s authority as subsisting in the Pope, the other sought to identify the church’s authority as ordinarily subsisting in the entire episcopate, and only extraordinarily in the Pope alone.

Despite the claim that the two councils do not contradict one another, and that they can be subtly reconciled as teaching one and the same dogma, both nevertheless managed to produce two entirely distinct sects of Catholics within a single century, both with councils and a litany of post-conciliar papal documents from which to defend their differing ecclesiologies and liturgies: the post-Vatican I ultramontane traditionalist movement, and the post-Vatican II novus ordo movement.

The former understands church tradition as having been circumvented by the recent council, and reject it as modernist. The other understands only church custom as being reformed, and accept it as modernizing.

What seems like subtle differences have created seismic division between the two sects, especially given the wide range of disagreement on whether the current pope is a manifest heretic, and therefore is at worst a de facto anti-pope or at best a ordinarily fallible teacher of the faith who should not be taken seriously.

In short, the fruit of papal absolutism is broad disbelief in papal absolutism. Instead of boldly defending the principle of her unity, being the infallibility of the Pope, Rome instead created a baffling and divisive stumbling block, being the unmistakable fallibility of the Pope.

That moment when a roman catholic realizes 10 different RCC interpretations are really just as much as 30, 000 different protestant interpretations.

Beautifully put brother. They're actually more confused about their heresies thanks to their universal pontiff.

Hey Jay is there any book you would suggest to someone who is divided between Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism?

Doesn't this show that the system is adapted to work without the Holy Spirit? I mean, this is meant for pure rational analysis of revealed truth and not participation in the truth through the Holy Spirit. I think the lack of pneumatology in the west has lead to this brain gymnastics over things that in the east is quite simple: Repent, pray and grow into the truth. I really appreciate your videos Jay!

Thank you Mr Dreyer. The great eyeopener for me was when you said the true definition of the Apocalypse. It is not what we've been taught. It is the Great Awakening of the truth which is happening today! We are now Apocalypse living in the times of the Apocalypse. May the creator of the universe continue 2 Inspire us.

What was behind the recent situation where Francis kept denying the kissing of the papal ring. It was shown on tape with a line of people who met tge pope last week.
It has a significant purpose in its practice. So theres a message in its refusal.

I was one of the 'lowly little Catholic/Roman guys'. I'm retired now, for multiple reasons. My family went to a missionary church in the South. Vatican II was apparently slower to take there, so I remember the Latin mass, but barely. I have, in the past decade or so, become sympathetic to the Sedevacantists.

Jay, can you do a more extensive teaching on this with specific examples. Something like: "The papacy doesn't solve the problems it proports to solve". Maybe there's already a good resource for that...?

How do the Eastern Orthodox solve this issue of interpretation of let's say synodal documents and ecumenical councils?

Mr Dyer,
I'm an evangelical on a long journey. Studying Catholic and Orthodox Christianity.

You described this problem well for me. I would love to know what the solution is?

I've heard all the arguments in favor of Papal authority (thus creating unity in teaching and practice) in contrast to the zoo of Protestant 30, 000 "mini popes".

The papal apologetic is so neat and tidy when it comes to big questions of/against sola scriptura and how to interpret bible, tradition, and practice.
What's the answer brother?

8:32 Don’t forget the Uniates, who fight amongst themselves about how many councils there are, and what dogmas they can accept and reject. Sad. Lol
