Vinushka, The OLD GOD of Nature Lore - Fear & Hunger #fearandhunger

Join the Omni World Channel Memberships to get access to perks:

The Old God of Nature, Vinushka, is a mysterious being whose name is absent in the first Fear & Hunger and who we find is dead in the sequel. However, we and other characters can still channel the traces of his power for plant and fire spells and we find one of Vinushka’s creature followers, the Iki-turso, in a hidden area. Vinushka is the child of The god of destruction Gro-goroth and the Goddess of Love Sylvian as Nature embodies both destructive and benevolent qualities. Despite being a major god, there are discrepancies in game regarding the exact lore of Vinushka as we see 2 skin bibles for the God, one written by Enki Ankarian and one by Father Hugo and Olivia can obtain Vinushka’s bible in her intro as she is a botanist and the Nature God’s influence seems to be a part of secular society as well.

Enki's version of the skin Bible is obviously correct, Father Hugo is just coping after being told his favorite God is dead

Love how Iki Turso is just like "ey don't wake me up you bastards" and then falls asleep again when you meet him

There seems to be an unending amount of lore for a franchise with only two games in it !

Hugo: "Can I copy your homework?"
Enki: "Sure just change a few things"

I’m more inclined to trust the skin bible of Enki than Hugo. For starters, we know Enki, if he’s gained the knowledge like his S Ending (which appears to be the case) he would write an accurate account of the knowledge he gained (I have my own theory of what to make of the canonicity of the endings of Funger 1 but I won’t get into that here). Hugo tho is a Dark Priest that writes partly out of his own views and seemly out of fanaticism born from dreams of Ma’habre, in which he sees a long lost king return and unite the world under the Sun.
The interpretation of these dreams is widely theorized. I’m of the opinion this vision is granted to him by the Sulfur God. And if the Sulfur God is the dark side of Alll-mer, and Alll-mer was given the soul of the Primordial Sun God for his ascension, this may be an idealized vision where this king is not a benevolent one, but rather the Sulfur God coming to usurp the throne of the Sun God.
Whatever the correct interpretation may be, it’s clear that Hugo is not a reliable source for anything relating to the gods. It is a deviation from the Dark Priest’s teachings. And it has clearly altered his… interests, given what’s discovered in the Orphanage. He is a fallen or “corrupted” Dark Priest (assuming the Dark Priests aren’t already corrupt).

I love the way gods are portrayed in Fear and Hunger. They really are just manifestations of nature. They aren't malicious, nor are they loving, they simply are

Vinushka was probably inspired by Slavic pegan gods.

I like the idea of having multiple interpretations (in any media) in universe. Obviously you can't trust Hugo's testimony, but that also puts into question Enki's knowledge. Maybe none of them can get it completely right first of all because they are limited by their humanity and their capabilities of understanding and secondly because Old Gods are not entirely comprehensible or intelligible.

Gotta love the skin bibles having discrepancies comparable to the Christian Bible. Different editions along with different information.

I theorize that Marina gained affinity with Vinushka when she was at the Vatican

Wait, didn't Outlander kill Venshka in the ending? In the art for the ending, a very similar creature appears...

Bold assumption that "Creation" is "Benevolent" in Fear and Hunger

The god of nature. Similar to thee the god of depths who brings upon the fear of unknown through the world, vinushka is both the destruction and creation, making her the god of life/cycle

The old gods aren’t dead, they just moved on from this reality, and have embedded their power into the fabric of the universe, becoming pure concepts

I wouldn't trust Hugo's judgement if my life depended on it

Wtf is this game. Youtube is desperately trying to get me into it but I've only heard of it through shorts. I just randomly get out of context video like this. Should I give in and play it? It's been awhile since I've played a turned based rpg

Fun fact: the name Iki turso seems to based of "Iku turso" a sea monster of finnish mythology from Kalevala.
