Moonscorching in Fear and Hunger 2: Termina will happen to 12 of the 14 contestants in the Festival. this transformation is caused by the influence of the Old Trickster Moon God, Rher. It is different from the eldritch influence of other Old Gods in the series including Gro-goroth, Sylvian, the God of the Depths, and Vinushka as instead of morphing beings into versions similar to himself, Rher's moonscorch causes beings to be changed into forms representing their darkest desires, repressed feelings, and inner insecurities. In this video, I explain each form for each character and the lore and symbolism behind them. Note, Pav and August are the only 2 that do not currently have a moonscorched form in game.

But that's the point, Abella has huge dysphoria and sees herself as "manly" and "tomboy" when really she's pretty and quite feminine. She mirrors Samarie, who is kinda androgynous physically but acts and dresses feminine, yet cannot see herself as womanly. O'saa is a stealthy hope, that despite all the power of magic and the occult he is actually more powerful as a human, he was already in contact with his "dark side" and in control so all he gets when his "darkness" outgrows his humanity is a power down and getting enslaved to Rher. Henryk, it's also the point, that he "seems" kinda normal and sane, but he looks also huge and strong, when the reality is that he is just a bully and a selfish monster all the same.

I love these games because of these, no other game would dare go these lenghts to show personal horror.

I remember Miro said in a tweet or something that when people were saying some of the moonscorch were too weak, he said thats the point and he has no plans of changing it because sometimes being weak in certain spots ot in general is meant to symbolize stuff about the character

Abella's form is about the way people always viewed her as masculine, and from working in an occupation with mostly men.

Since Abella doesn't show any early signs of moonschorching, I wonder if the parasite may have triggered her to panic and hasten her transformation. Sure she's able to beat Caligura's ass when he tries something on her, but the parasite is so quick that it violates its victim as soon as it latches on and doesn't let go. Doomsday Trumpet could be a desire to scream for help or a scream of frustration over not being treated as equals by men

Henryk isn't visually interesting but he does make sense, he was obsessed with being bigger and more important and his moonscorch was just... that lol

Maybe if there was some more symbolism of superficial importance like fancier clothes/ jewelry or medals or something like that it could make the design a little more interesting, but it might also be too cheesy and heavy handed lol

Mastermind’s design is honestly one of my favourites. It’s subtle but it works so well with O’saa, plus it’s eerie.

I think chaugnar could have been pretty cool with only some minor changes, like making the symbolism with the male characteristics even stronger by having a body more similar to the giant or the gentleman.

The resemblance to abella could also be greater wilst still retaining the symbolism by having a head more like hers, except upside down to make her hair look like a beard.

Maybe also a giant warped wrench or something, so that her wrench toss attack could be used as a more challenging attack to the player

I can understand Mastermind being weak but a strong magic user. That's how Sorcerers and Mages typically are
