New in Premiere Pro! Fix HDR Color (version 23.2 update!)

Version 23.2 is now available from your Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App.
The new version included automatic tone mapping so when you are working in a timeline with mixed media (all of which have different color spaces). Automatic tone mapping recalculates the HDR color values so that they display consistently in the narrow Rec. 709 color space. You’ll also find Swedish, Norwegian, and Dutch languages were added to the Speech-to-Text feature.

this is HUGE for not having to manually grade these HDR iPhone clips anymore. was such a headache for a chunk of my year last year, as my main talent I was working with recorded his video on his phone. Thanks as always for another great video, Gal!

Thanks! It kinda worked, but not enough for me, specially when using Cinematic mode on the iPhone. What I found on-line is that you can right-click on the specific video from a MacOS (on the Finder), then you can re-encode the video using H264 and then it works because the video will be converted from HDR to SDR.

Nonetheless, thanks a lot for the hint, I learnt something new today :).

Love all your videos. I am having this issue as I edit my wife's HDR videos for her client. I noticed the Auto Tone Map feature and messed around with that since my exports were coming out overexposed. The preview views looked great and the scopes showed everything in range. I know it has something to do with export settings but have yet to really figure it out and am using tweak "work arounds" to get an acceptable output. But yes, thank you for addressing this issue.

Before this fix, I usually put exposure of each clip in lumetri to -1 or -2.

Excellent, as I love the HDR 10bit of my Iphone 13 Pro Max but always looked like trash in PP.

The problem I have is trying to render out in hdr10 with hardware encoding enabled... if you can fix that, then you really are a wizard!

I do a lot of convert to Ae clip editing workflow and it has really been a bummer with the color space on anything that is HDR even with the new tone mapping. I know you do a lot of Ae in your edits and am wondering if you have any suggestions. Thanks!!

U could have just interpreted the colorspace of the iphone footage to rec709

Still not working for me. Stuck in betwen LUTs and settings. I cannot use my HLG yellow footage from a Sony 7aiii without using LUTs. This option makes no barely makes a difference at all in my sequence. Still need to interpret and add the LUT

These updates are awesome!
I had an issue last night with my language pack (English)
**FIXED**
It showed installed but I kept getting the error “Failed to download language pack.”
If you come across this issue,
1. simply install a previous version (newest 22.) with the appropriate language packs…
2. load a project to transcribe.
3. Reinstall version 23 and open that transcribed project.
The language pack automatically transfers over!
Took me hours to figure this out for my last short. 😡😭Hope this helps someone save that time for themselves!
