It wasn’t Haiti it was called St Domingue then. Haiti was created in 1804. When it was a French colony with 90% of the population being slaves It was very profitable for the French.

The value was in its ability to be exploited. When exportation stopped the value left, and they were left to starve

They literally made a deal with the devil.
They sold their country to the nameless one.

Like Zimbabwe/Rhodesia, soviet union, Afghanistan, Cuba (when Castro took over) etc. Inmates running the asylum. Just because you work the fields doesn't mean you know how the fields work. In these cases very little was done for the transfer of knowledge. Sure there was wealth transfer- take or expropriate businesses and lands from owners, but if the knowledge of how to sustain the market cycle and commodity harvest isn't present, then that wealth quickly evaporates or gets spent without replacement. You can't supplant legitimate business owners and industry magnates with loyal party officials or revolutionaries that have zero experience in these enterprises. As we saw in Cuba, Castro EVENTIALLY replaced cronies with some competence and training. Because he had to

The last time I watched one of your shorts the video was about failed communism in Cuba and it never explained anything. I mean anyone who has lived in Cuba, me, knows that the communists aren't what ruined it, the sanctions did. In fact the communists made an education and healthcare system that rivals the U.S. I mean the U.S. doesn't even have public healthcare so.

This short was much better, it explained a bit and made me watch your full video, very nice btw.
