Yellow Mongoose vs Cape Cobra

I had watched this yellow mongoose the day before moving around and checking under all the stones. The next day he was back and I had my cell phone with me so I started a video, well to my surprise the Cape Cobra appeared and what incredible interaction between the two .... one brave little mongoose...

Rikki Tiki Tavi (Mongoose) vs Nag (Cobra) was one of my favorite childhood stories! To see the battle play out live, in the wild, is just incredible & intense! The fierceness, skillfulness & bravery of a mongoose is commendable! Right up there with a wolverine & a honey badger! All 3 so very BADASS!

This cobra was actually very wise and clearly very experienced in defending against mongooses. It knew to keep the hind part of its body away from the mongoose so he couldn't get those cheap shots in against him which would have otherwise caused him to eventually become weakened and vulnerable to the point of being killed by the mongoose. For most snakes that's almost always the deal breaker when doing battle with a mongoose. They don't defend well and eventually it gets them killed.
