Could this cute little mammal kill a king cobra? Mongooses (mongeese??) are fiercer than they look. Watch this little mongoose take on a cobra. Will it win this battle, or is cobra’s venom too strong for mongoose?

In my ancestral house in india where I grew up, we had to spent years in t3rr0r due to cobras in our backyard. They would enter the house frequently during summer and monsoon. We had to put up 3 layers of nets and block every entrance, still they keep getting in. All this suddenly stopped when one fine day we spotted a female mongoose in our backyard, who apparently made it her temporary home. She gave birth to 5 babies. Thanks to her and her babies, the snakes disappeared. I still remember feeding milk powder to the babies, who later became quite accustomed to entering our house without any hesitation, just to be fed with the milk powder.. my family remains indebted to them.❤❤

Some corrections, it's not the king cobra but the ordinary cobras that was shown in this video. Many people know may not know that the ordinary cobra's venom is more toxic than that of the king cobra. But the king can deliver more venom in a single bite and therefore it has the ability to even kill an adult elephant. Third, the mongoose is not totally immune to a cobras venom, there are many instances of both the snake and the mongoose dying in the fight, the snake gets badly injured by the deadly bite of the mongoose, the mongoose dies because of the excess venom after some repeated attack by the snake too. Nevertheless, it's only a mongoose which can even take the king head on and he gets the bravery award.

There is a Mongoose family living in my flower bush for years here in Sri lanka. They are very fearful towards humans but not for others.

The HARDEST snake for a mongoose to kill (and live to tell about it ) is the Dik-Dik or "Two-Step" as we called them in 'Nam (you take two-steps and fall over dead!). Rudyard Kipling's story "Riki-Tiki-Tavi" in "The Jungle Book" explains it very clearly (my remembrance of Kipling)-The Dik-Dik is a small, brown finger sized, foot long ordinary looking snake as deadly as a cobra. Indeed, far more human's are killed by the Dik-Dik than by cobras, as the Dik-Dik crawls into bed-clothes and lies un-noticed and strikes it's victim in their slumber. And so begins the Tale of Riki-Tiki-Tavi.

When European settlers came to the Caribbean, they brought mongoose with them and let them loose on the islands to kill poisonous snakes. Only problem is there are no poisonous snakes on Caribbean islands and they never were now the mongoose are a pest that eat native animals.
