I Broke a Promise to God. Am I Still Bound to This Promise for the Rest of My Life? - YQHA

Several months ago I made a promise to God that I would read 3 chapters in my bible and have prayer time first thing in the morning every day before doing anything else. I now realize how foolish it was to make this promise because as a wife and soon-to-be mom, there have already been several times I have broken this promise. Am I still bound to keep this promise every day for the rest of my life? I feel as though I am living in sin because I usually have to repent multiple times a week for breaking the promise. I feel trapped, and I don't want to keep sinning.

This biblical theme increase my suffering because I struggle with OCD, intrusive thoughts, the enemy attacks me with blasphemous thoughts. I feel a huge grieve, struggle and weight in my shoulders to be accepted and loved by God. I saw testimonies of people having unwanted intrusive thoughts about making promises in their minds and they are afraid of never visiting the hospital because of the intrusive unwanted vote, (These are examples) they are afraid of never eating lobster, working in wallmart, playing baseball.

I made the exact same vow to the Lord, which I REGRET and have repented of. Now I love to read my Bible, and it means so much to me. But that vow just put condemnation on me for years!! It’s like vowing not to work on the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath! Let’s live in FREEDOM and LOVE, not using our freedom to sin, but to just walk with the Lord every day in a loving relationship with Him! Imagine if a husband had wife vowed to spend thirty minutes a day together. It isn’t always possible. Isn’t it better to love eachother and enjoy spending every minute together that we can?

I’m glad I found this, I made promises long ago when I was 21 or so and now I’m 32 and a mom I made two promises to not drink coffee anymore due to a sin I did and second was to only wear dress and skirts from now on due to a book I read about woman be pleasing to God and I prayed that for the rest of my life and I break these promises all the time.
