Today, I just got out of a situation-ship. We loved each other dearly, but it couldn't work out. My parents strictly prohibit me from being in any romantic relationship. The religion I also am in also prohibits me from being with anyone romantically that isn't the same religion I am. I love him so much, but no matter what, I can't have him and it just really hurts. Idk if it's weird, but instead of a break up I connect this song to a dream job I'll never have that I promised my 13 year old self that I'll one day achieve.

The part where it says "No matter how long I resist temptation, I will always lose" hits me so hard that I'm striving for a career I don't even want just so I can get my mother's support. Knowing if I achieve this "career" I've deemed a broken promise and a heartbreak from my 13 year old self. In her eyes, her and I have lost.
