How to build a raised paver patio start to finish. We start by building a retaining wall that will be the outside edge of our patio. There was also a landing and steps we had to put in. We used Techo Bloc Blu 60 pavers, Brandon wall blocks and caps.

Love it. I have a handyman's deck and I would tear it out to build exactly what you have. My back yard is slope after this area and a pool with a wall around it would be phase 2+ 3

Im a fan of just pouring a concrete footer with a stem wall pumped with concrete and its done for a lifetime. Probably less work when it is all said and done, but stronger.

Beautiful build. I have a client who wants a concrete porch, think I'm going to build like this with cinder blocks then concrete over everything

Hey Techo Bloc, nice job.... you make it look easy, and it came out great.... I think the homeowner messed up and didn't have the first step out of the house right under the trim.... when we get older, that first step is a dosey... now that you are done, if they wanted to make that kind of change, you would be able to, right.... it would take some tearing apart and reinstalling but doable right.

looks great, thanks for sharing. question: what was the drain pipe for that you didnt talk about ? i assume its just the pipe coming from roof? do these raised patios not require any type of drainage underneath? does water just flow through since no mason mix inbetween or waterproofed? hope these questions are not too obvious?

I worked at a block plant that stored all the slabs, pavers, curbs and whatnot.. Couple months before the plant closed, over the course of two months, I got my parents around $6000.00 worth of pavers and slabs for absolutely free. Enough for the area around the shed and a walkway to the pool. Gotta love free product.

I notice you have some 4 way joints in your pavers. ie: the corners of 4 pavers meeting together. It's best to avoid those so the entire patio is interlocked and looks as good as possible.

I believe it would’ve been better ti incorporate the Geo-textile fabric into the second course of the wall. It works to enhance the stability of the walls regardless of this height.

For structural purposes, did you need to stagger the blocks as you would a two-sided wall or could you have done it with just the long face to the front?

Could you cover (i.e., put on a roof) that as is or would you had to have planned accordingly and added some sort of pier at the point loads?

For the slope of patio, do you build the retaining wall in an angle as opposed to level to go with the slope of pavers?

So it’s OK to bury the first row of block halfway with modify? it won’t affect with drainage ? I’m only asking because I’m new at doing retaining walls

How did you pitch it or get water off patio? Assuming walls are level. Awesome job !!!
