The 2024 Boston Dynamics Atlas Robot is a bit Sus🤔

This is the new electrified Atlas bot from Boston Dynamics. They retired their older hydraulic Atlas and introduced this twisting sussy baka a few days ago. It's made out of aluminum and titanium to be stronger and much lighter than before. What do you think?

I keep advocating for Neurosmam to be downloaded into this thing. Just so we can have a real AI Robotic nightmare instead of just SciFi speculations.

Honestly, I'm worried about how they'll interface. If it's wireless, I'm willing to bet it'll get it's security circumvented, and cause a lot of damage.

On a less likely note: how am I supposed to defend myself if one walks out of a factory after contracting malware, and basic fisticuffs instructions? Can I just shoot it? Where? It could potentially move faster than me as well with it's undeniably superior articulation. I'm not gonna feel very comfortable if I ever see one of these things in real life despite how cool I think it is.

"Lighter better stronger faster...." Now add some guns on it

I can imagine what robots they've developed and haven't told us about. Think Terminator.

I think it is affordable for average costumers too.

If the average costumer is a warehouse, it can work 24/7.

If they will produce more it can be cheaper, the ai behind it can be smarter in the future.

Nice video and commentary, THG. Humanoid forms seem good for interaction with humans or things made for humans. Once they replace humans in work, assembly operations won’t need human workstations and robots can make things more efficiently. And killing machines don’t need to be humanoid. They could be tiny drones carrying toxins. Humans are way more scary to me than machines - just look at the horror they’ve created for millennia. Machines will never give you up or let you down!

I still think making robot looks like human is stupid.

I've gotta know if it's all improvements or if they had to sacrifice something.
Not that I had any idea what the battery life or weight capacity of the old one was.

I can't wait to see how things are looking in a few years, especially as some companies start putting the pressure on to start mass production.
But we still don't have mass availability of self driving cars, so we're all stuck waiting until suddenly this stuff is everywhere.

That's crazy!
It almost looks like a CGI video!

Sorry, what was the "sus" part again?

It's double jointed! You should have played the sound when it moves. It sounds like a steel garbage can moving around! Did you check out the Tesla robot? The fingers and hand movement is extremely remarkable! It can pick up a raw egg with its fingers and place it on a plate without breaking it. That is a very complex movement for engineers to accomplish!
