"She’s waiting for you…” Bond puts an end to Renard’s plans in THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH (1999) by skewering him with a plutonium rod. To give the appearance of the submarine sinking, it was flooded by lowering the whole set slowly into the water tank at Pinewood.

3:35 no one is gonna mention that respectful smile on Renard’s face, like “Thank you for freeing me from this torturous life”

"She's waiting for you!" hands down the best Bond kill line since "You've had your six" in Dr. No

This Bond feels no angst nor melancholy. He shoots a woman he had feelings for dead in her chest and then dispatches her partner with even less feeling. It wasn't the rod that killed Renard. It was that arctic gaze of utter hatred that Brosnan shot at him.

That final look Renard gave him, it’s almost like he was saying thank you

I like that for a few seconds you see that Renard knows its all over and there's a slight smile. He doesn't care by that point. I would have liked to have seen them do the alternate ending where Elektra survived and Bond visits her in the institiution.

Renard may not feel physical pain but he can feel emotional pain. And that always cuts deeper.

It frustrates me when conversations about great Bond villains arise, there’s a snobbiness about how Renard is a lesser villain because it turns out he’s carrying out Elektra’s plans. First of all — Red Grant, Emilio Largo, Dr. No were all followers of Blofeld. I think they all still have their values and are some of the more iconic baddies. A lot of the time, villains working towards a ruthless goal for a grander purpose makes for a more compelling villain. And secondly, he’s one of the only villains, if not THE only villain whose motivation was actually love, no matter how twisted that is, it adds a layer to him.

COMMANDER Bond.... He knows the inside of a submarine pretty damn well. THE LOOK ON RENARDS FACE... He’s like, damn how the hell did you know how to do that.. And not only that, what Bond said to him at the last second, “She’s waiting for you”.

Bond is a legend for this scene right here. Renard wanted to make it personal, and Bond took it to a whole completely different level of personal. When they both exchanged faces, you can just see how cold Bond really is. 007, Ladies and Gentlemen.

I really do enjoy this film more than most, but the choreography of this fight is just not exciting.
