THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH opens with the longest pre-credit sequence in 007 history, lasting 14 minutes and features James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) in the Q Boat in high speed pursuit down the River Thames in London.

Captured by six different cameras, the boat’s mid-air barrel roll was performed by stuntman Gary Powell using Vickers air mortars attached to the side of the boat. The Q Boat is a custom-built vehicle with a V8 engine offering up 300bhp, designed by engineer and boat builder, Doug Riddle.

THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH premiered in 1999 and was directed by Michael Apted with Desmond Llewelyn as Q, as seen in this scene.

I love it when Bond is under water and takes a moment to straighten his tie, pure nectar!

3:11 Even when you are completely submerged underwater you have to make sure your tie isn’t crooked

It’s amazing how Q is always working on the specific gadget Bond needs to beat that particular nemesis. I dare say, it’s almost as if he’s an INSIDE MAN.

Brosnan always blew my mind as James Bond when I was a kid and he still does. All hail Pierce fucking Brosnan!

I don’t get why Brosnan gets so much criticism. Easily one of my favorites. I think I’m one of the few that likes every Bond.

One of the best openings of the Pierce Brosnan era and I never get tired of watching it because it is so impressive and fun to enjoy, we can say that filmaker Michael Apted did an excellent job of directing to make this boat-chase sequence incredibly memorable.

Pierce Brosnan could’ve been the best Bond, if only he’d been given the best writers.

If there's one thing that you can't argue with the Brosnan era, it has perfected the most ridiculous action sequences in any Bond series. The St. Peterburg tank chase (Goldeneye), This scene, The Ice land car chase (Die Another Day), The Motorcycle chase in Beijing (Tomorrow Never Dies)

Pierce is the Bond I grew up with! No one will ever be better than my man in Goldeneye!

Fixing his tie underwater is SO 007
Pierce was clearly THE Best ever!

First 15 seconds had me rolling with the boat flying out the hatch. Why in the world is the boat exit 100 feet up in the air? Well, I guess because the world is not enough. I love this film.

My favorite James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan - suave, debonair, handsome, and ruthless when necessary. None before or after can compare!

Behind the scene interviews reveal that Mr Brosnan fixing his tie underwater was not a part of the script.
Which is why many agree that Mr Brosnan is the best 007.

He internalizes the character.

Almost forgot how over the top these "early" Bond action scenes were... The underwater tie adjustment always gets me!

I'm not a huge fan of the Brosnan era but Oh my goodness!...that blast of the Bond theme at 4:36 as the jet boat flies out of the restaurant into the Thames with the O2 front and

The right decision to include this in the pre-title sequence. Also David Arnold's killer score

Desmond Llewelyn
is just perfect. He played the greatest character in the entire series for sure ^^

Judy Dench as “M” and Desmond Llewelyn as “Q” were simply irreplaceable

After Bourne series was becoming popular, the Craig era had taken its elements in making Bond more moping, humorless & serious in his character. The current ones seems to have forgotten about the dark & light British wits in the franchise the old James Bond series was known for. What I like about the world is not enough was the opening theme song, the Q gadgets experiments results, the 1st female antagonist and the cold kills he did in this
