"I love and hate Istanbul at the same time. I get tired of it, it’s too big, too loud, too full, too much to grasp for a human being… but it’s also the most exciting puzzle of people, things, smells, feelings, places and stories structured in little micro worlds. And a micro world is much easier to grasp. Kadiköy is one of those. Coming from Central Europe where the profession of a musician has nearly died out or is polluted with so many more things than just making music, it is always refreshing to find yourself amongst musicians in Istanbul - not necessarily from Istanbul - they can be from all over Anatolia or from all over the world, but they have this readiness and skill to play instantly. KADIKÖY SESSIONS is one of those groups/collectives/agglomerations of musicians that I miss so much in Berlin. The music flows, no need for rendezvous and google calendar….I had the great pleasure of playing with them last summer and I shall be looking forward to this energy whenever it’s possible to meet again. A micro moment from a micro world I enjoyed so much."
