G W Leibniz, The Theodicy, pt 5 (objections)

This is Leibniz's response to the argument that God cannot exist if there is evil. He argues that evil has some place in the universe in order to make the universe maximally good (optimal), because God could only make a universe that is good all things considered.

Objection 3: It seems like God cannot coexist with evil. The fact that there is evil at all shows that God is not perfect. It is incompatible for a perfect God to exist and yet evil exist. God is not perfectly good.

Objection 4: It seems like if God picked this world because it had the right amount of evil, God is complicit in the actions and is responsible for evil. God is thus evil - God participates at least in the approval of evil.

I really enjoyed the series! I'm curious about your thoughts on Leibniz's ideas.
