GM used to be first to market with the EV1 and then they crushed it and fell behind 20 years. And then went bankrupt and then got bailed out by tax payers.

Elon said it best. Anybody can come up with a prototype. Anybody can come up with a design but nobody can ever master mass production. Ford is the Godfather of vehicle mass production. Ford just went into a six year deal with Google and Google software will help launch screen, autonomous driving, and production logistics.

Tesla is so much more than a car company.
With Tesla's ecosystem of Solar Roof + Powerwall + EV, you can live off the grid and never have to worry about power outages or going to gas stations.

Meanwhile hybrid vehicle adoption is actually out-accelerating full BEVs. If anyone has been paying attention to the news, it's hard to charge your car when power is out for a week.
