I discuss how a series of proteins created by your liver is able to assist and ‘complement’ your innate immune system by both sticking onto pathogens and also creating a mechanism to destroy those pathogens (called the Membrane Attack Complex or MAC). Your complement proteins, specifically C3a and C5a even go onto help alert more immune cells when there’s danger nearby.
