As the Psalmist proclaims, "Bless God in the great congregation, the Lord, O you who are of Israel's fountain" (Psalm 68:26 ESV), and "Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name forever and ever" (Psalm 145:2 KJV). Just as Simeon, after encountering Jesus, "took him up in his arms and blessed God" (Luke 2:28 ESV), we seek to lead others in a life of stewardship, relevant engagement, and practical living that honors and blesses the Lord.

Actually... indiscriminately agreeing with what Voddie Baucham says is more of an idolatry than watching "The Chosen" is 😅

Sometimes, Christians can be so caught up in trying to find errors until they forget about sharing the gospel. I don't have images of what Jesus looks like because I don't know. I worship Him in spirit and in truth. However, someone who is conveying a message through acting out the Bible is not the same. The Bible that we have in English was translated but there are words we use in our language that is completely different in another language. We should always pray and ask God for the proper interpretation of certain scriptures for our time and culture. Let us stop backbiting each other and start sharing Jesus, the hope of glory. Shalom.

Angel Studios released a documentary "Jonathan and Jesus" that goes into Jonathan Roumie's experience portraying Jesus and how people see him as Jesus himself and his challenges with that. The Chosen is always very clear that they don't want you to worship the show itself but instead build your relationship with Christ and enhance your view on Scripture

The Chosen has lead so many more back to reading the bible and going to church and so many more people looking into Christianity than has happened for a long time

The Chosen Inspired me to seek a Bigger Relationship with Jesus . Inspired me to pick up my Bible and Learn more about who Jesus Was .

I love Voddie, but I personally feel that this is more of a personal conviction than a violation of the 2nd Commandment. If you don't agree with it or your conscience doesn't allow you to watch it, then dont. But also don't knock it down for others.

I think we should be careful that in using artistic license that we do not make Jesus into an image of our imagination instead of who the Bible says He is. This idea would fit in with the 2nd Commandment because it is not about just making a physical item to worship. It's also about not making any likeness which could be a mental image that does not reflect truth to worship. And if this TV show were to cause someone to stumble at the 2nd commandment it would be in creating a false mental image.

However, regarding the commandments we also need to be careful of the 9th commandment when using artistic license. The 9th commandment is often thought of as 'do not lie' but more accurately it is to not bear false witness. We need to remember that the people in the Bible who believed in Jesus are very real people and that we will meet them in the Kingdom someday. To make an insinuation about who they are without evidence in the Bible to back up the claim could be bearing false witness about them. And frankly I wouldn't want any of them coming up to me and asking why I portrayed them improperly.

Finally, I refrain from watching shows about the Bible all together because over the years I have found stuff like that is usually not completely accurate to the Bible. And it is easier to not get something stuck in your brain than to have to unlearn something stuck in your brain. And perhaps it is also because of an early Christian rock song I used to listen to by White Heart called 'Read The Book (Don't Wait For The Movie)'.

Romans 14 comes to mind. Personal conviction. We should stop trying to waste time in these secondary issues and share the Gospel. If I’m wrong, please God, fix my mistake🙏🏻✝️🕊️

Great video. I love the Chosen and I by no means idolize the Chosen or any of the characters in it. Watching it definitely made me want to be closer to the real Jesus in a way that I had been before but fell back from. It makes me wish I knew Jesus back then and want a better relationship with Him now. I absolutely loved the guys take on icon vs idol because he was spot on! Great video!

At the end of the day, God can use even the worst things to draw people to him (not saying the chosen is the worst lol). But that's also what my mom cited. She used to listen to Joyce Myers when she was a new Christian, and Joyce was what got her into Christianity. As she grew, she realized Joyce wasn't really all that biblical, and had many theological issues, but at that point the seed was planted, and she then started seeking out other sources.

Wish I would’ve seen this before breaking my sobriety. Pray for me to get over my wife leaving me, and to replace this dark feeling over me during this season. God bless y’all

If it brings one soul to Christ then it is worth it.

Appreciate this. And in the video played, there is the quote, "worship is the highest point of your attention."

We've never seen or heard of a single person who has made The Chosen or Jonathan Roumie or his portrayal the highest point of their attention. All we ever hear is that the show has caused people to make Jesus and the Bible the highest point of their attention when it wasn't before.

In the very beginning of the first episode it specifically says that the show is not a replacement for reading the Bible and that they changed some of the stories to make them fit AND it encourages the watcher of the show to read the scriptures for themselves

When I began to back away from The Chisen, was when Jonathan Rhoumie in character said Jesus is A Way rather than THE Way. Subtle but powerful. I haven't watched an episode since. Such a shame. I used to love the show.

There was a video that Voddie responded to where the wife of a pastor said she sees the actor in her mind when she thinks of Jesus and Voddie said that is dangerous and that he won't try the show because of stuff like that. I saw it a few months ago. I don't remember what channel it was on.

When I watched The Chossen season 1 a year and a half ago. It drew me to WANT to read the Bible. I had always had conversations about religion with a close Christian friend of mine and had been seeking the truth for my whole life. I always felt i needed to actually read the Bible instead of just referenceing bits and pieces, but once I watch The Chossen I felt so inspired and compelled to do so. And shortly after, God gave me a Bible (could be a whole other story)! And I read/listened at work till I finished, and have been on my journey of growth in relationship with our Father ever since. So I'd say THAT is the whole point to the series. Like you said, to point people in the right direction!

Voddie, I believe, also takes issue with pictures of Jesus that people keep in their homes for the same reason.

This is why we can't have nice things. Some Christians will complain about not having good, faith based and pure movies and shows, but then those same people will complain and nitpick Christian shows. I love the Chosen and I believe it sticks to the Bible for the most part. It's silent on what the bible is silent on, and speaks up on what the bible speaks on. What exactly do they want from Dallas?

Unfortunately many people can't tell the difference between what's in the Bible and what isn't.
