Best fast Acetone PLA smoothing technique

Показать описание
Here is a quick method of dipping larger PLA printed objects and smoothing them in acetone. Using this method you will retain the acetone you use making it very cost effective as well as producing superior results to any ab PLA/PHA as usual and printed at 0.06 layer height as it needs to be for this method to work. latex free rubber gloves are also required. job done! good luck! Ill post a vid on how I do the heads later some time.

Colorfabb PLA/PHA is not the only PLA filament that smooths, as apparently faberdashery PLA also smooths apparently but i only use colotfabb PLA PHA as i find its the best. if you need to print with 'pure' PLA for some crazy reason other than cost, then this method will not work for you. but if its smooth surfaces you are after, then its time to switch!

Read the description, he say it only works on PLA/PHA blend not like PLA. Oh and you have to print at 0.06 mm layer height.

Maybe try to coat PLA with ABS plastic solution. But not in acetone but in methyl acetate. Since ABS plastic, when the methyl acetate evaporates, becomes glossy, at the same time, PLA plastic becomes rough from this solvent, which means a very good coating should be obtained.

It doesn't eat into the plastic of the tub? I'll have to check which plastics it affects before trying. Thanks for your vids and channel, very helpful!

I know PLA is not supposed to dissolve in acetone But I notice the acetone was a pink hue to it so something is happening if he has used it on red PLA in the past.

What do you do against that white residue? Thats the main reason i dont dip but vapor smooth, would be great to have a faster method with a good finish :-(

Wait you could use acetone on PLA ?? :O

pla doesn't smooth with acetone, it's pretty much just abs, and you'll want to give that a vapor bath. This is just a waste of acetone.

Che io sappia l acetone va bene per l abs non per il pla.
