The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is keeping a close eye on the sun after intense flares that began over the weekend. NBC’s Tom Costello reports for TODAY on how this could impact technology on Earth.

The reason it is impacting us further is because the Earth's electromagnetic field is weakening which lets a greater intensity of CMEs through from the Sun. Arouras have been seen lately in Nevada as well as other States in the US.

Read on… a transformer blew its lid off in front of my house. My wireless router is fried and my sim racing pedals no longer powers up. May be an anomaly on the pedals but they were brand new.

Hmmm... One of the main impacts of solar flares is disruption to satellite communications. Radio waves used by communications satellites can be interfered with by radiation emitted by solar flares. This may cause signal loss, resulting in disruption to communications services, GPS navigation and data transmission. Additionally, energy spikes from solar flares can also damage electronic devices on satellites, causing permanent or temporary damage to critical systems 🥇🇮🇩😘🥰
