Natlan is a one of the nations in Teyvat that has yet to be released. Although such little lore exists right now about the country, enough information does seem to make Natlan similar to the Aztecs or Indigenous Mexican people.

Another hint at Natlan being inspired by Mexico is an offical art of the Traveler and Paimon in a street which appears to resemble the Mexico we know today. This picture was made specifically for the Mexican version of the game to celebrate the Day of the Dead, which is an exclusive holiday that Mexico is known for. People suggested that this is in Natlan and how it proves that Natlan is based on Mexico. This could perhaps be a town in Natlan that survivors have formed as a way to escape and hide from the bigger tribes in the nation and be safe from, similar to Grand Bazaar in Sumeru City, and similar to how Grand Bazaar has the Sabzeruz Festival which is based on Nowruz, this town in Natlan might host Tevyat's version of the Day of the Dead. This is all just a complete speculation from me, I might end up being wrong about it.

when you mentioned "human sacrifice" you said it so casually that i had to rewind to make sure i heard you right LOL

I wonder if Natlan will have a human sacrifice aspect implied. It would make sense if they were trying to capture an idea of the culture of Pre-Colombian Mexico.

There is an area called the pacific ring of fire. It contains mexico too. Sounds like a great place to take inspiration for natlan.

It would be very nice to have a world in the world of Genshin Impact to have a ancient hispanics culture and inspiration

It's so bizarre how little we even get to read about Natlan. Most mentions rarely ever talk about the populous within the nation. The most we've heard about it was from Venti, old Mond slaves from weapon and artifact descriptions. or whatever other random name drop that doesn't give much. It really feels like Inazuma on lockdown all over again.

Some stuff to aid in a future vid perhaps? They do have natural springs heated by volcanic conditions which could help pinpoint a bit more into what locations the region will be inspired from most.
Isagani and Vanessa's tribe attire from before slavery could hint at a timeline inspiration.
This one is more a silly guess from Paimon but she assumes they'll have a bunch of meat dishes in their festivities.

I could definitely see it getting the Sumeru treatment in being a smorgasbord of many cultures heavily combined. So long as it's done respectfully..

i'm mexican and the ball game was one of the first things i thought when i saw the travail trailer in the Natlan part, even playing a "simple game" would end up in human sacrificies... as far as i remember from my history and culture classes, aztecs, mayans and mexicans (it's pronounced as "meshicans") they highly valued honor, fairness, religion devotion and respect to the divine and the elders. Also, i think the name of the war deity is wrong, the correct name would be Huitzilopochtli (pronounced as uit-seelo-poch-tlee)

What do you think about the information we have from Mare Jivari? It would be amazing to see a video from you about this place and its possible cultural references and connection with Natlan.

And congratulations on the video, it's always so interesting to watch the way you explain and present things, you're really good at it ♥

not only latin america, but it is possibly inspired also by west african culture. The character Iansan comes from the orixá Iansã, which is one of the aiabás from both umbanda and candomblé religions. They are both very common here in Brasil, but only because they were brought here during the colonization.
I do hope they get to represent south america too though 😊

Ok listen, i got somethin to say, yall need to see this.
*Bennett is NOT the Pyro Archon.*
I’ve been hearing this for too long and it’s gotta stop. In the Genshin Impact Preview (Travail) when it gets to the Natlan point, Dainsleif talks about the Pyro Archon; ’When the God of War shares this secret with the Traveler, it is because *she* has *her* reasons.’ The Pyro Archon is a girl. And yes, Bennett has white hair and green eyes, but Iansan is not Bennett. They never even confirmed Iansan is the Pyro Archon. We just know she’s a character from Natlan. And I don’t know why she has green eyes if she’s the Pyro Archon,
every archon has glowing hair and eyes of the color of their element. She might not be the Pyro Archon. But I know *Bennett is not and will not be the Pyro Archon.* Just watch. He is a 4 star Mondstadt character. Iansan, if and only if she is the archon, will definitely be a five star, (obviously) Natlan character. I don’t even know if it’s her, it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
But if it isn’t, she will *definitely* have red hair, (or red tips) and red eyes, Iansan has green eyes, and gray hair, we just know her as a Natlan character, not the archon.

Ty for reading my comment, hopefully you agree, if you have any hate comments, or say otherwise, then please don’t reply.
