We recently obtained numerous car insurance quotes at the 21 day point before renewal, OL6 8 postcode. Renewal from Aviva was £340. Pluginsure quoted £2, 462.46 for our battery lease 2018 R110 Zoe Signature Nav, fully comprehensive, husband and wife to drive with daily commute, full protected no claims bonus, both with clean licence, no accidents, no claims, car parked on our driveway overnight. All other quotes were around the £350 -£450 range. We eventually went with Saga at £358 which better suited our needs. Perhaps we need to move to Derbyshire!

I was paying about £550 with Esure for my Kona (garaged, max NCD). My girlfriend bought a petrol Smart- she was quoted ~500 for just her, as she hasn't built up any NCD.

From LV, I got £550 to cover both cars with both named drivers and breakdown nationwide recovery on the smart. (this broke down to about 250/300 for the Kona/Smart)

Thanks for this Nick. I took your advice when we spoke and went with pluginsure. I must admit I searched across all the comparison sites and even my favourite adrian flux who ALWAYS give me the best price couldn't match them. The guy was a great bloke who couldn't do enough to explain things to me.... That's the advantage of a family run business (like yours come to that... Thanks for helping me buy my Zoe). My quote was £273 for a brand new ze40 Dynamique Nav r110 AND he promised he would beat that price next year. I have a partner, no kids, a drive way and I'm am 'administrator' at a B&B aged 49. Thanks again for the heads up :-)

Good advice as usual
I renewed my zoe insurance a few weeks ago, ended up staying with my original company who managed to take over 100 off the renewal quote when I showed that pluginsure, LV and Tesco were all much cheaper. Premium down from £ 450+ to £350 just by checking around and going back to my local broker, enabling me to stay with same company no getting proof of no claims etc.

Great tips.
Electric vehicle drivers are a good risk for insurance companies.
EV drivers are just nice people that care about the environment and care about saving money :)
Electric vehicles are better than ICE vehicles. Less fuel costs, less maintenance costs and they last longer.

Great video as always you have been a great help in my research before I ordered my Zoe. For me though LV were cheaper than PlugInsure sadly.

Thanks Nic - I was with pluginsure with my Zoe - shopped around this year but could not beat pluginsure when I squirrelled down to the small print, pluginsure were mega helpful when I wanted to add my Australian sister in law for 2w. That said I have a hunch LV’s new EV insurance May be more competitive next year but who knows I shall wait and see. I do agree the personal friendly / family approach and going the extra mile was great, which you don’t get from a call centre.

Another really informative vid Nick, thanks again. Did PlugInsure tell you what the reason was for not being as competitive for Tesla vehicle drivers? Cheers and keep these vids coming, yours is a great EV channel

Hi my current insurance £550 for the year onecall ins. After your advice I got a quote from pluginsure. Just under a grand and the reason given was my post code. I own a Nissan leaf no points or convictions full no claims 56 yrs old married children and car garaged over night fully alarmed. So sorry they are not the cheapest. Oh and I drive for a living. 🤓

LV were competitive on my Tesla M3. I switched my insurance to the Tesla but then wanted a temp insurance on the previous i3 to drive it to a dealer but adding the i3 + Tesla to my insurance reduced my overall premium and I received a refund :)

"Parking on the road" is *always* cheaper than driveway or garage for me.

I’d like to know how easy it is to claim in the event of a crash with these smaller companies. When I bought the 2018 Nissan Leaf in sept 2018 it was a 6 month old car and just switched the car on my current insurers (e-sure) and it came in at £330 fully comp with E-sure and ended up being a fiver dearer than my insurance for the Audi Q5 S-line. This was not too bad I felt 😅

Great video. What I have found after looking, my Zoe is due for its second year if insurance in a month, is that PulgInsure don’t insure drivers under 25, so I cannot use them:(

Hi Nick, quick question for you. I think I remember in one of your vlogs about the tyre pressures for the Zoe should be 40psi in summer. Am I remembering this correctly?

Thank you for the tips. A few years ago I changed from married to divorced which caused a huge price increase. Apparently divorced (previously responsible and safe) is the same as reckless single boy racer. Perhaps I could say my partner's name is Zoe?

For me, LV was way more competitive than Pluginsure for our Zoe.

Thanks for your advice but plug insure are awful to deal with. I literally can’t get a policy with them because there is never anyone available to speak to. Totally useless.
