In this video we will be going through the full classroom set up process from start to finish. Including all the mistakes and mess ups ;) This process was fun, overwhelming, and exhausting...but I am so happy with how it turned out!

I can see the joy in your face while you were setting things up. When you start to feel overwhelmed or anxious just remember why you decided to become a teacher, it will remind you that it will all come together. You seem to be a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher. You’re going to do very well. I am retired after 35 years of teaching 1st and 2nd grade but I also spent some years in 3rd and 5th and as a k-3 reading coach.
Those trainings at the beginning of the year are overwhelming. Just let them be kind of on the back burner and focus on what you have to do with students for the first week. Everything will fall into place as you go.

Hint, use a clear pocket or clear paper sheet holder to put the voice level dots. Then the kids can change it for you by taking out the correct voice level.

I love the way your room turned out. The students will love it! I am starting my 28th year. I have taught both elementary and middle school. I moved to a new middle school across the district this year and have been a busy bee most of August, too.

I am a retired 1st grade teacher, and I would like to tell you that it's actually better NOT to have everything up on the first day of school. The kids will be overwhelmed also! Put up only the basics (calendar, library, headings on word wall, management routines you will need to teach Day One). Put up a few seasonal or decor items. Slowly add things as you teach them. Blends, minute intervals on clock, numbers to 120, words on word wall can come as kids need them. Blank areas of walls allow visual learners (majority of people) a place to rest their eyes. Be kind to yourself and your students,
