one better use for your money than a regrettable purchase is donating to support the people of Palestine❤ Here are some options:

you just need ruffled socks instead of sporty socks with the shoes! maybe in an accent colour to match your fit instead of white

I know gen z likes their plain white crew socks, but when i was an artsy younger person (in the 90s/00s), i loved wearing mary janes and loafers with funky patterned (or colorful) socks - especially sheer patterned ones, and I could see myself pairing the red shoes with some. I applaud how intentional you are with your wardrobe choices, though, this isn't a lot of regrets in the grand scheme of things! 🙌

I can't tell you how many times I've bought clothes (new & thrifted) that just didn't fit the way I wanted, and then going "Well, it fits good enough, I can fix it later"
LIKE
GIRL NO!!!
I never remember and then I don't wear the thing! 🙈

That red skirt is so good on you and I think the plaid is subtle enough that it's not giving like punk hot topic fabric vibes lol. I'm sad you don't love it. Hope you find the perfect one soon!

Some ideas for the boots: call around to local cobblers to get an estimate for heel cap replacements, the shape might be more common than you think! Also for the inner lining part, you can purchase leather filler/leather repair kits fairly cheap! Another option would be to maybe apply some sort of fabric on top?

Okay, there are so many ways to fix the socks+ flat shoes thing:
1. Transparent socks exist. And these mesh socks sometimes come with a cut that will be completely covered by the shoe
2. Tights
3. Knee socks, maybe the longer format will look better
But also, i think white socks with rooshes look amazing with these kind of flats!

I think it’s so cool and vulnerable to share this!! I am hiding shameful thrift finds in my closet and no one even knows I own them! I also paid 62 bucks to clean and repair thrifted boots (which were 8 bucks) and only wore them 3 times 😂 so my advice is to only pay cobbler fees to shoes you really want to wear a lot❤

“Burdened by moral obligation because I bought it” = EXACTLY my problem and why I keep things that I don’t like 😖
This video is so cathartic and helps me see that I too can have “failures” but not let it weigh me

I repair vintage shoes for my Depop shop, and I can assure you that fixing that edge is not hard at all. I often encounter some vintage boots from the 90s and 00s with this issue.
You will need sanding paper, heavy leather filler, and leather paint. Here’s what you can do:
1. Sand the faux leather layer off completely
2. Apply a layer or two of heavy leather filler, which you can buy online in small pack, so you don’t have to pay too much. Let it dry completely
3. Sand the new dried layer a little with a softer sanding paper for smooth texture
4. Paint over the edge. Make sure to choose self-sealing paint which means that the paint doesn’t need to be treated with leather finish afterwards as leather finish is already added to the paint. It secures the paint on the filler.
The remaining product from the filler and the paint you can use for so many other shoes and bags, as you can repair scratches and tears with it. It’s generally good to have those products at home.
Keep in mind that this advice is good only if a small area away from your feet is made of faux leather. If the whole lining is like that it won’t work. Also the result will not look like new leather, but it won’t flake and will look neat.
Reading the reheeling of the shoes, I really doubt it would cost $80. The shape of the heel shouldn’t matter much, as the cobbler just can cut the new tip around the shape of the heel. I have dealt with cobblers for many years because of my vintage shop and it never was an issue. However asked the potential cobbler to show you some of their works, so you could see for yourself if they do their work properly (no weird gaps or wrong angled tips). And if a cobbler doesn’t reside in a city center or some fashionable area, the prices are usually lower.
Last thing please don’t get rid of that pink bag, it looks gorgeous next to your hair 🔥

Regarding the boots, just get the heels fixed. The peeling leather can be gently scuffed off with a little bit of sandpaper...play with the grits until you find the right one for the job (maybe 100 grit or rougher?). Good luck. You're really not doing that bad...you should see my cavalcade of mistake purchases! LOL!

Invisible socks! They exist for a reason, those silver flats are so gorgeous on you and match very well with your clothes I think

The pink bag would be so cute as a flower pot holder! Like a basket -- and then you can look at it more often without having to wear it. (Those self watering planters would preserve the bag too)

Also recommend getting cotton bottom / mesh top socks for the shoes that are slightly too big!

Maybe you could put the pink bag on display in your home as decoration (like in a shelf or wall hanger)

For the shoes with socks problem- maybe you could try getting some invisible socks? Like the super short ones that aren't visible once you put your shoes on

Maybe you just put a cool crossbody strap to your cute pink bag? Could be a cool and practical look.

Loved the video anyway ❤

Re: the boots, heel caps are a really inexpensive thing: I had two pairs done at once for $15. It definitely won't be $80

The peeling I have had happen too, and for the interim, because that also bothered me so bad, I purposely scraped and peeled it all off. And then it kinda didn't bother me anymore?

I think the opera bag is beautiful, if you did want to save I feel like replacing the chain should be easy enough to do. But if you aren’t sure about the bag it’s probably not worth it.

I would wear some low cut /no-show socks with the red and silver shoes.

Love you and your style 🥰
