Pull A Part used auto parts is really one of the best salvage yards you will find. I had the opportunity to to some automotive DIY videos with EricTheCarGuy. Here are 7 things you really need to know

1: Searching vehicle inventory and pricing
2: They catalog the vehicle, not the parts
3: They don't take calls about parts
4: All the yards are self service
5: Most parts have a 30 day warranty
6: They sell used cars? (I had no idea LOL)
7: They will buy your car and pay on the spot

Good tip about them towing away cars for free, I wasn't aware of that. Another handy aspect about Pull A Part (albeit a bit sketchy) is when doing a repair that one hasn't done before (eg, removing door panel), you can try it on one of their cars (learning where are the hidden fasteners are, etc), without having to worry about breaking fasteners on your own car.

Wish the junkyards near me were more like this. They're not nearly as good at keeping track of inventory. The staff are also pretty rude and unhelpful.

I've been to P-a-P here in Montgomery at least once. The two greatest things are the organization of the layout and the ground is laid over in gravel. So you can find what you're looking for easier and if you gotta get under the vehicle you don't have to lay in the mud and all the other stuff that leaked.

Pull-a-part is one of the most convenient and organized stores that I've ever been to. I visit the Jackson, MS store every now and then and the service is always good. Don't forget that many cars share parts, especially GM vehicles. The internet parts database is the best tool. Often, they would let you have some small parts for free such as lug nuts, little buttons, emblems.. etc.

Wish we had a junkyard like that here in NY. You can see a part on a car from a previous visit telling them that they do have it in stock and you seen it with your own eyes and most say if I don't see it in my computer we don't have it. Or they are just flat out to expensive.

This is the right way to do a sponsored video.

I wish that there were similar scrapyards in the UK. There's an outfit called U-Pull-It, but they only have two locations, both many miles away from where I live.

Here in Northeast Ohio we have a bunch of Pull-A-Part's nearby. They've always been great. They don't have a lot of newer cars though.

Last October I sold my 02 jeep liberty to pull a part for $250. I cant really remember what the mechanic said it needed but they told me it would be over $1, 000 to fix. Myself and my husband are not mechanically inclined. Before I sold it to pull apart I put it on Facebook MP for $500 obo, I was bombarded with messages. I stated it would have to be towed, 98% of the people that messaged me ignored that. Intake and exhaust valve now that I think about it. I wasted a full day replying to people that were misinformed (I did state what needed done to the jeep in my ad). Selling my car to pull a part was a breeze! The kicker in this I saw my old jeep last month at a gas station recently. I wanted to approach the person that was driving it but I refrained! I'm happy my jeep found a good new home😂

It is very sad to see a golf mk3 vr6 in this state, here in Brazil it is very rare to see (some units were imported), you can count on the few fingers of the hand that exist here !!!

The biggest thing is when to go new and when to go used for parts. For example a tyre shop striped the threads in my hub. As the hub was not a common failure part and the price was stupid, I got a salvage one complete with bearings. Still driving on it 10 years later, cost 10 percent of the new part and I did not have to do the bearing as a bonus. Are you allowed to fit salvage parts at the dealership?

I sure wish my local wrench a part was like Pull a part. Also wish we didn't have so many "selfish tools" at my local place, they just trash out the vehicles so much getting to what they need.

If I were to buy a complete engine would I have to bring my own fork lift 🤔 or do they help with that part or do they have some just laying around you pick from?
