Plato on Religion and Homosexuality

In Plato's Laws, the Athenian Stranger tells his Cretan counterpart that the myth of Zeus and Ganymede was invented to provide divine cover for illicit sexual desires, a startling accusation or suggestion meant to remind us of the ways that the divine can be invoked for all-too-human causes. The Laws is possibly greatest Plato's greatest dialogue and this is just one of countless incredible moments in it.

Progressive Christianity in a nutshell

This is why Christianity seems to be the most universally true out of all of them. Islam is essentially a user manual on how to be a desert caravan raider, Judaism on how to assert your own ethnic superiority, etc

A contemporary parallel is the 1990s invention of the ‘two spirited’ mythology.

So basically, you can create a culture that gives rise and justification for homosexuality rather than just being born that way

In Greek mythology, Zeus had a homosexual relationship with Ganymede. Ganymede was a beautiful Trojan prince whom Zeus, in the form of an eagle, abducted and brought to Olympus to serve as the cupbearer to the gods. This myth highlights the themes of beauty and divine favor in ancient Greek culture.

Indeed. Such could be said for both forbidden and promoted practices. Where does the human line end and the divine begin.

That’s why God is just my father having a hissy fit cause people don’t follow what he’s saying.

Progressive Paganism
The modern world really did begin with the Greeks!

Wow, just wow. Trying to draw human parallels to ancient greek gods. Many of these gods could change form, and would often do so to trick others to advance their own agenda; and the playing out of that agenda containing the lesson the myth was meant to convey. Trying to justify your own behaviour on the basis of a god busy about a god's business could hardly be considered historic support for such behaviour.

Imagine just how much broader mined people were in the past. Now look at it.

It's not a subterfuge. It's how myths works.... Sometimes we must face the facts and don't try to hide them behind dogmas...
