Well I love my Tesla Model 3. But I must say when I took delivery in October 2020, I had immediately 3 component failures. 2 cameras (one after the other) and one side mirror fold/unfold. Since all those components got replaced, I had no further issues. Maybe I was just one of the unlucky guys.

I have an early Model Y. Couple gaps / tail lights that could be better but that I truly don't care about as long as function stays 100%. They did fix the charge port door (replace for alignment) in my driveway and fixed a rattle in the trim by the B pillar when I took the car in for tire swapping. No concerns at the moment and I'm sure any Model 3/Y ordered today will be even higher quality than my car was.

My model Y’s doors didn’t close properly on delivery day. They fixed it but now I have a wide panel gap which they can’t fix. Car drives fine tho

I bought a model y past weekend. I have found so far 11 built issues... Yesterday I found some buzzing coming from what appears to be the famous heat pump... I thought QC Issues we're not longer much of an issue... I got a door that doesn't close well from day 1, chips and paint issues. Horrible panel gaps, which very likely will let water in when raining... Anyone who tries to minimise the QC issues of tesla is not honest, or fair. Tesla has a world to go before building issues are not longer a problem... I got anAppointment at tesla serving center tomorrow, 4 days after I got a car that costed an arm and a leg...

Might as well also point rattles, charge port door not flush. Side repeater had to be replaced due to water getting inside.

My model S spent nearly half a year in and out of the service center, so I dont agree that the problems are overblown. I do think that quality overall has improved and both my 3 and Y have largely minor issues. Misaligned glass, bumper fitment issues, paint imperfections. The cars are largely bulletproof from a drivability perspective, but tesla does need to improve quality assurance.

For a company that is only about 12 years old I'd say they are doing very well, but PERCEPTION of poor quality will be hard for them to get rid of. People see videos and hear stories about rear windows being sucked out on the highway, or back bumpers falling completely off after going over a bump and think that applies to ALL Teslas. This will take a while to fix.

That being said, Tesla really needs to improve their parts turnaround for repair shops: Apparently parts are taking 3 or 4 weeks or more to arrive. This is not acceptable for a high end vehicle and should be remedied ASAP.

NHTSA reports one recall and 100+ complaints. Why didn’t you mention the complaints? Using your NHTSA rationale, a recent Audi A4, for example, would be the better buy: no recalls and no complaints.

Helpful video. What are your thoughts about the people who have panel gaps and other fit and finish issues and tesla will not fix it because they say it’s within spec?

Give me a break fan boy. For the price of a Tesla I don't want misaligned panels and the liner falling of on the interior. I don't want a squeaky car. Hurray the mechanical parts are superior. There is no excuse for this. Even musk has said that he's aware they don't do well when pushing to deliver. He knows it but finds it more important to fill his pockets than to have customer satisfaction. As the hyundai and kia hit the market I'll bet Tesla takes notice. Not everyone cares about FSD. That being said nicer looking and well performing lower prices EVs are coming.

Has occurred to me that there is a lot of focus on Model 3 youtube videos of cosmetic issues. However, why is final quality control for fit and finish dependent on a close inspection by the consumer. New cars are delivered from Tesla owned dealerships -- why are issues not taken care of prior to delivery? It is the core components that are essential to travel and I was glad to see attention on them in this video

I’m not a nit picky person at all….. But my brand new 2021 M3 LR came with deep scratches to the top glass. Had to get both glass pieces replaced at Tesla, only to find that the service workers broke my rear interior pillar during the process. As if that wasn’t frustrating enough, they didn’t seal/place the new glass correctly and it was creating a lot of wind noise. They repositioned the glass again 2 days ago and replaced the part they broke, however now the rubber lining that’s supposed to be underneath the glass is sticking up AND the pillar does not fit properly. Looking at my other pillars, most of them don’t even fit properly. The car is beautiful and I’m having mostly cosmetic issues, but for the price of this brand new car…. These things shouldn’t be happening.
