I am 70 and raised 4 children and everything we ate was from scratch. Plant based and nutritionally healthy.

I have given away things and clothes I don't use for the last 20 years. Now I am at the point where I have exactly everything I need and not one unnecessary item. Less stress, less dust, less cleaning. I have researched the connection between food and water usage. Since then I throw away zero food. NO CASH IN MY TRASH!

Two things I learned from my mother were , you can't live life on the never never and If you can't afford it you can't have it....If I need something I save for it, by the time I have saved it is usually on offer... and far cheaper.... Contentment and patience has a lot to be said for it.

Not only do you save money by making food from scratch, you control the ingredients and cut out the poison 😁🙏

Only buy what's on sale. Stock up on staples on sale, if you can. Make the distinction between "want" or "need". Always think: "Can I make that myself for cheaper?"
I think a lot of people don't know how to really cook anymore. Soups & stews are a great way to use what's on hand and nutritious.
When you're feeling down about having little money, remember there will always be ones who have more than you, and >ones who have less than you. Examples- If you have a roof over your head, be thankful you're not living on the street. - You had to have soup 3 days in a row, be thankful you have any food at all.
We're doing ok now, but there was a time when I had to count change to get groceries.

Reusing what you have is my favorite, and most used frugal tip. Reusing jars for canning, cutting apart old t shirts and towels for rags, washing out zip lock bags, wiping down aluminum foil, cutting down milk jugs for undersink storage or to hold a toilet brush or when the kids were small to hold little toys.

My family save àll old knitted sweaters and I deconstruct them, unwind the yarn, and crochet new garments for the family. We often buy used sweaters too.

I basically do now all those things, exept for using fabric napkins instead of paper. Fabric napkins need to be washed, and probably hot, to get rid of grease. You need to waste detergent, watter, and electricity for that, and, in my country, electricity is very expensive. Besides, paper, undyed, napkins, can be thown in the compost pile, which leads me to the next subject. I throw fruit and vegetables scraps and egg shells in a compost pile, to use later for my plants. It can be done even in a balcony, using a composter. There are many instruction videos of how to build one without spending money.

Sometimes if you save up for something (instead of going into dept for it) you find by the time you have the money you decide you don’t need or want it any more x

My grandmother would get old rags or wornout clothes and make them into rag rugs some in use today after 65 years.

A great source of cloth napkin fabric is the pillowcases on sale for very little at year-end and close out sales. If you buy cotton, they will last forever, and get softer over time.

Turn your thermostat down at night or when you are gone. Saves quite a bit. Also hang your wet sheets, shag rugs, towels, blankets and dish towels in doors when the heat is on
they will dry quicker and provide moisture from a dry indoor climate.

It is easy to live simply, frugally, economically, whatever you call it, if you *just stop being envious* - be content with who you are, be grateful for what you have and your possibilities, be happy for all there is to learn, know, and share, look to it that you live a variation-rich life to the fullest. Nobody could do it better than you, cause you know what really makes joy, is of interest and use for you. You can do it!

Buy two. When you get to the second one, the normal price will be more than when you bought it. You save the difference. When something you need is on "super sale" get several. You save several times. Use them all before you get more. Have a "place to put it" before you buy it.
