I think Orange is a reference to the Turtle Hermit gi from Dragon Ball. You can see that his stance in his artwork is Yamcha’s Wolf Fang Fist stance.

The Orange is most likely from assault but from Foxs character design

Though the brown color is technically correct, i doubt this is the correct reference.
Starlink was released the same year as smash, which was about 2 month prior, i don't think the color is based on that due to the fact they were developping their games coincidently at the same time. Unless sakurai was aware of that game during the developpement which is possible, but don't believe that's the case.

Furthermore i think the brown jacket is based on star fox 64 and 64 3D, you can clearly see him wearing a brown jacket.
