Congrats to Coach K for all his success at Duke. It has been a pleasure to witness from the very beginning his tremendous career. I remember when he and Jim Valvano came into the ACC in 1980. There have been many great memories over the years and great games between Duke and my beloved Maryland Terrapins. Coach K is the last link of a time when I was much younger and a really big fan of ACC Basketball. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

All I can say is John Wooden is lucky he coached during the era he did, because it was so much easier back then to go undefeated (4X), win 7 consecutive NCAA Championships, win 88 games in a row, etc. etc. Thank goodness Coach K didn’t coach during that era or Wooden might have retired with zero titles and Coach K may have won 15 or 20 and won over 100 in a row because of how easy it was to do it. It is hard to imagine the kind of numbers Coach K would have put up if he had been able to coach in the 60’s and 70’s as Wooden did, but I’ll bet that UCLA is awfully relieved they didn’t have to face the likes of Coach Krzyzewski.
