What EVERY Hooper Can Learn from JJ Redick (Attention to Detail)

JJ Redick is one of those players who we probablyyyy don't study enough as hoopers and coaches. Because in reality, there's a LOT we can learn from his game. Not even just within the concept of shooting, but far deeper than that. I break it all down here.

future generations will see him as some random guy that talks on tv but he used to be SCARY out there

As a raptors fan he went pretty crazy during the playoffs against us in 2019. Hitting so many fading catch and shoot shots it was absurd. Most catch and shoot players are good at hopping into their shot, not many are good at catching and going 1-2 directly into the shot. JJ was a master at it

Finally something for taller midrange scores

Which is what I've been working on in other words screens for me it's defense which is exactly what I hang my hat on screens just to free everybody else up which frees me up and rebounding those will add up to something much bigger

Anyone who claims jj redick is unskilled just flat out doesnt know basketball 😂

Being able to consistently make 3s and midrange jumpers off the catch, coming out of a full sprint, curling, going in either direction at the NBA level while being an undersized guard with no length is an elite skill that pretty much only a handful of players have even in today's league

I don't care how gifted and how talented you are you still have to put in the work watch film study it

I would love an analysis of young Manu (2003-2009), he was so fun to study

could you please explain to me how to drive through the outside-hand hand-check? (when i go right they put their left hand on my chest) i play pickup with a lot of fouls, and this is the only defense i cant crack... hoping for a tip

Who do you want to see broken down next??

You missed the biggest thing... His legs start the shot before he even has the ball. On an ideal catch and shoot, he's at the bottom of his shot as the ball hits his shooting pocket. He's shooting well before he even has the ball... footwork A++ ...if he had to load like most players. He would be jimmer

Drifting left into a fade with your left shoulder is elite level difficulty

In ‘18 the sixers often played JJ and Belinelli (very similar skillset) at the 2 and 3… what a nightmare for the defense. I remember both of them catching fire in the first round that year and they were unstoppable
