This lecture is was created for use in Thermodynamics for Mechanical Engineers at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

This lecture I review the general process for analyzing a Rankine cycle before going over an example problem where we (a) draw a T – s diagram for the cycle, (b) find thermal efficiency, (c) find the mass flow rate of the cooling water stream that’s used to condense the fluid coming out of the Turbine, and (d) find the back work ratio of the cycle. As always, we’ll also track the assumptions we make along the way.
