L23 & L24 Shorts Rankine Cycle (Introduction and Example)

Rankine cycles are important because they are used to generate the majority of electricity we use in North America (think coal and nuclear power plants). In this example, you’ll learn the process for solving a basic four component (turbine, condenser, pump, steam generator) Rankine cycle. We’ll also work through an example numerically to give you an idea of how to do these problems on your own.
