We, in Gujarat, also celebrate New year on the Next day of Diwali. It is as par Vikram Hindu Calendar. So we do celebrate both Diwali and New year in Gujarat one after another. But, today is Solar eclipse, so will be celebrating New Year tomorrow. So Happy Diwali and Happy New year to all of you.❤

Yeah it's really similar, the only difference is that in the west during Xmas or new years the fireworks produce oxygen and nutrients and during Diwali in India it creates pollution. "Mera toh non veg ke bina chalta hi nahi hai and also I don't burst crackers, kahi zanwaro ko lag na jaye" Happy diwali by the way.
