The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), supported by the Government of Ireland, has teamed up with the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) at University College London (UCL), to organize a seminar at its headquarters in Rome, bringing together experts, policymakers, and researchers to discuss strategies that can support more coherent policy frameworks and institutional innovation for driving change in agrifood systems.

The seminar featured a lecture from Professor Rainer Kattel, IIPP Deputy Director, who provided an overview on public sector capabilities; a presentation from Ms Siobhan Kelly, Agribusiness Economist from the Agrifood Systems and Food Safety Division, who emphasized that the 'systems approach' has leveraged previous frameworks such as the sustainable livelihoods and value chains approaches; and presentations from IIPP Master of Public Administration students who presented their research on tools that facilitate policy coherence.
