Most people know Physik Instrumente for their ultra-precise piezo-nano-positioning equipment and hexapod 6 axis alignment systems. The PI Group's Air bearing division, hundreds of man years of experience in the design of standard and custom air bearings and motion systems. Air bearing systems are used in the metrology, semiconductor, laser micro-machining and precision automation industries for their extremely straight, flat, and uniform motion with minimal runout and tip/tilt errors. To achieve the required precision, granite and metal has to be machined and ground to extremely tight tolerances. We use state of the art machines at our Nashua, NH facility.

Designing and building nanometer-precision air bearing systems is not just a numbers game – it requires experience, you could almost say there is a bit of black magic involved.

By hiring the best talent in the industry and acquiring Nelson Air of Milford NH, PI's team can offer the broadest variety of precision motion solutions in the world, from in-house-manufactured miniature piezoelectric actuators to large multi-axis gantry robots.
In addition to providing a host of standard AB products, we specialize in fully integrated, multi-axis custom systems for metrology and machining applications.
PI USA is ITAR registered and ready to fulfill the needs of customers with export controlled applications
All our products are tested using laser interferometers, capacitive metrology and other state-of-the-art precision instruments. Quality is guaranteed through ISO9001 certified design and manufacturing processes.
The PI group employs 1300 people worldwide, with offices and facilities in all industrial countries.

Where ever you are located, we are in a prime position to solve your precision motion problem and support your application.
