Oh, with the mention of the focus on unculturable ocean bacteria, I can't help but think of candidatus electronema - its capacity to produce activated carriers to sustain its metabolism via transfer of electric charge is especially appealing in the context of closing the loop of cellular respiration with only electric charge - I saw a diagram where the cell of the bacteria was capable of producing glucose from carbon dioxide, but perhaps I was misinterpreting the diagram

My guess at around 1:20:00 was viral DNA - but transposons probably make more sense, and viral DNA segments would probably be longer, anyhow
