Ayrton Senna Footwork Heel & Toe BIGFOOT video with Proper Sync'd Sound (RARE)

I don't usually post other videos but this one has always annoyed me in that it has generally been VERY poor visual quality, the footcam although easy to see is not in the same focal range as the steering wheel/track and the sound has always been off. I found a decent quality version of the video, reprocessed creating a "BigFoot" video and also sync'd the sound. So now we can truly see the master at work in what is now the best example of his footwork in action.

The "BigFoot" video is nothing new, I often do bigfoot videos for my clients to focus more on the footwork and so when they view the whole video (windscreen view with steering movement) they can really see what the feet are doing as well. This is crucial as the pedals and the steering wheel are used to adjust the weight balance of the car, their secondary role, in the case of steering is to steer the car, the pedals to accelerate and brake BUT they are used to STEER the car also. Watch and see if you can see Ayrton doing this

I like his habit of checking his mirrors coming out of the corners -- even though he's the only car on track!

"If you no longer go for a pedal, that doesn't exist, you're no longer

Words to live by.

His use of the throttle as a steering mechanism is especially apparent when he exits the spoon. He's constantly feathering and adjusting throttle pressure to push the car as wide as possible without losing the rear end or going off track. Killer rework of a classic.

His footwork is beautiful. Handling phenomenal and his shift points were perfect. He definitely squeezed so much power from that Midship V6 of the NSX in this test. His driving style is like a Rembrandt piece. It's the rarest kind of artwork you could find. You can hear from the sounds of the engine the timing of the revvs was amazing. Definitely he does not waste even a fraction of a second on a corner, all due to his mastery of the pedals. This guy deserves to be amongst the Great Driving Wonders. By the way, the video and audio are in perfect sync. Thanks for this. I was able to appreciate Senna more because of this vid.

Unbelievable... Before the curves he would synchronize the use clutch, break and accelerator, simultaneously!

Absolutely insane the level of technique he had....he was way ahead of his time.

Rip....Legend!

Great job cleaning this up and I mean GREAT job ! Labor of love!. You can see Ayrton MAGICAL 360 positional awareness, he had. What drummers call " limb independence" hes looking on the rearview mirror while taking a curve but hes hitting  gas and brake almost simultaneously . Just a bit here and a bit there the car was being controlled by the power changes as well as the steering. Toe down on brak heel down of throttle . This ability was so clear when he was doing his Senna Rain Magic. Commentators are " why does he keep vibrating the steering wheel....? left /right left/right a thousand time a minute and OH SHIT he is using the very front of the tires as a windshield wiper, when the full width of the tire hits the track (where aquaplaning would happen)  theres no water under the tire, Just took 10 years for the expert to realize THAT! Only Schumacher has been able to come close to the technique but NOT as expertly . the man was an alien I swear he was

Whoever decided to record his footwork is a hero

I think a lot of his weird throttle blips come from the fact that he raced on cars with killer turbo lag for most of his career, so he taught himself a way of keeping the boost levels happy

Damn... and it looks like he's just cruising along... no stress... just a relaxing lap around the track... o.O'

This Senna vid is old...this is by far the best quality I've seen. It truly is of value to see his technique and hear the rev matching. Well done sir!

Great video. I grew up watching the Best Motoring videos with their pedalcam inset video and that's partly why I adopt the same approach. So many driver think that the brake and gas pedals are switches rather than potentiometers :-)

Great vid Malcolm, it's amazing what you can learn just from a "master's" pair of feet at work! Thanks.
