If this is what 5G will look like (Chicago) then I am not interested in buying a new phone for this. WOW horrible.

The right side of the map that’s covered is the loop (Downtown Chicago)

DoD already used up a big part of the 5G MMW frequencies (spectrum allocation for 5G), leaving less commercial use. The excerpt below explains why the U.S. is still struggling with 5G in terms of implementation. According to the National Security Implications of Fifth Generation (5G) Mobile Technologies document and excerpt to find out why the U.S. is still behind with 5G in building up capacity.

"The Department of Defense (DOD), however, holds large portions of the usable spectrum. Although DOD uses certain MMW frequencies for high-profile military applications such as Advanced Extremely High-Frequency satellites that provide assured global communications for U.S. forces, it extensively uses sub-6 frequencies—leaving less sub-6 availability in the United States than in other countries. The Defense Innovation Board (DIB) advised DOD to consider sharing sub-6 spectrum to facilitate the build-out of 5G networks and the development of 5G technologies used in the sub-6 band. While DOD has been moving toward greater spectrum sharing, it has expressed concern that sharing presents operational, interference, and security issues for DOD users. As an alternative to spectrum sharing, some analysts have argued that portions of the sub-6 spectrum should be reserved for commercial use. This would require DOD to relocate certain applications to other parts of the spectrum. The DIB estimates this approach would take around 10 years to complete, as opposed to 5 years for spectrum sharing."

I live 25 miles from Seattle. Sprint, Tmobile, and AT&T all Provide 5G coverage to there compatible phones. Verizon only offers 5G to people inside the Football stadium. Makes me really wonder how much longer it will be before Verizon can keep up with the others in providing coverage.

Drove up to Omaha. Got 350mb up and bout 50 download. Wasn't great but no complaints on a phone. Barely got it outdoors and went in and out even with full signal at 5g

This is what you get with mmWave. You need line of sight with the gnb. Nothing bad with it. You get excellent capacity when you are close to the node. The 5g is coming to make a difference. Which is the reason to get low speeds on 5g? Lte could be enough. MmWave is the real thing.

Thanks for speaking about Verizon. I get so left out when you talk about T-Mobile all the time coz I am on Big Red.

No wonder they never show a map. 🤣🤣. That is terrible. They might completely blanket the US in 2040.

Thx for the honesty. I live in LA suburbs and can't even get the spotty coverage. I've had VZ forever cause it's the best 4LTE. I'm waiting for the low level sattilite 4LTE universal for all. It's more competent and will be worth the wait ( Starlink ).

Sprint & Tmobile's 5G Maps are the complete opposite of Verizon, it's like they're past Beta Phase in Completion, & have almost of NYC & even Yonkers & Far Rockaway on 5G & our Band 41 LTE-A is a Super Fast Network especially with carrier aggregation i'm Getting up to 125mpbs speeds on Sprint while my lowest has been 38mpbs on Band 41 while avg around 48-75mbps even indoors in places where it sometimes switches to our low Band 800mhz Nextel signal that reaches in NYC Basements, we get straight up Band 41 in the Subways due to a contract Sprint did with NYC MTA & their (affiliates businesses) Subway Stations same with TMobile but they have more issues underground due to not being CDMA being UMTS & GSM

5g still is not yet rolled out except for few cities and location and I don’t think even at the end of 2020 it will become mainstream so there is no point in buying a 5g phone in 2020.

You know when you compare 5 carrier aggregation on LTE vs this I'd prefer LTE. I've seen people approaching 500mbps on LTE visible speed test.

How would they give a map if they didn't have one?😆😆😆
Man, oh man. They will not succeed like this. mmW alone is not it.
