Scrap buster #21 Scrappy String Tumblers GO BIG!!! - strings and crumbs - easy patchwork.

I am going large on my blocks, why? Few reasons. So I can use up more scraps. So I can work with less individual blocks. So there is less to sew when putting top together. But most importantly large blocks look awesome! This is first block in hopefully series of big ones, Scrappy String Tumblers GO BIG.... I made tumbler template myself so no need to buy any extra tools. And they went together so quickly! And all the cut offs when cutting to shape...there is another project already under way to use these as well :)

I love crumb quilting. It’s the way quilting began. The fabrics weren’t as colorful or varied as today but it feels like a more pure way to quilt. Not that I don’t use patterns occasionally but crumb quilting is my favorite.

Absolutely ingenious way to build a strip block around a triangle. It creates a very pleasing braided effect. It would make a nice border too. Thank you for sharing 😊

You are so ingenious. I love how you found a way to use even some thinner fabric. I have some that I did not want to use in my regular quilts. Now I know what to do with them. They are pretty and different, but thinner than what I normally quilt with. I love the big template you came up with. That one would definitely clean outa bunch of scraps and make someone a really nice warm blanket. Thanks a bunch
