I was always told the best method to Act is to not simply pretend, but you truly become the character while understanding that character. This always helped me a lot in Plays and even in voice over too, it’s to believe in that character’s words, the scene, the character themself, it’s to escape into that world, even for a minute, and make it real for yourself as you speak, move and think as that character. Believe, do not pretend, give in, do not fake it, this video is very interesting, it keeps it simple while showing another way how to Act.

9:45 also I found that if you are struggling to keep your composure when reading the cookbook then you could also try the same hat method but with this small script/line/whatever you want to call it.

“It was just sitting there… right in the middle of the room.
No note, no label—just this.
I mean… what am I supposed to do with it?
Open it? Ignore it?
What if it changes everything?”

You could apply multiple different emotions to this and practice with it. I’ll let you know if I make or find other lines/scrips/whatever you want to call it.

You’ve helped me a lot Actors Academy. I started diving into acting about 6 months ago while watching your videos and taking an applying your advice I now have an agent with another agent wanting to represent me as well. I am a detective in a featured film that will be available on Amazon Prime, The CW, Tubi and Fandango next year. I am a main role in a comic series coming up and have a small role in a fan based web series! I also starred as Dracula in Dracula: Comedy of Terrors live play. I appreciate all your hard work and helping us with our future and I will continue to watch, learn an share

Thank you so much for your videos. I started listening to them as I take my daily walks in the evening. They're so helpful and soothing. Great for my mental health. I'm not an actor but I would like to start taking classes for fun and to build confidence. Who knows where that may lead. Your videos are super :)

5:50 Is this the actor's opinion on what the character's past experiences were?

I am basically like most of that in life. Sireusly I don't even have to pretend cause i'm not trying to act when i'm doing this it's it's just my personality!😊

Hi as an aspiring actor I struggle a lot with actually memorizing the script, more often than not I tend to think a lot about what I have to say next, which doesnt allow me to be present in the moment, any tips for that? What i mean is that I normally understand the context of the scene and what is expected from my character, however learning the script so i can say it naturally is my where I fail the most, I keep coming to the same words or phrase to start all over, should I improv por often in this situations?
