Western North Carolina is slowly getting back on its feet - getting students back in school, businesses operating and repairs ongoing.

More than a week after Helene, many mountain roads remain closed due to flooding and damage. In Asheville, Hendersonville Road and BiltmoreAvenue will temporarily close so cleanup activities can safely take place.

The city of Asheville said on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, that the roadway will close between All Souls Crescent and Meadow Road until Oct. 13, 2024, between the 7 a.m.-6 p.m. City officials say all lanes will be closed to all vehicular traffic except emergency vehicles "in order to maintain safety while cleanup activities take place in theBiltmoreVillage area."

There was another group of pilots that started operations of emergency drops of supplies on Sunday. They were working out of Statesville and as I understand it yet another group of helicopter pilots working out of Concord. They all deserve our thanks and appreciations.Great work guys, you litterally saved lives!

I'm from Arizona, but my friend is hunkered down in Asheville. It would be so helpful if you provided maps. We could see where it is you're talking about. We don't know the little hollows and rivers and ridges. That would make it so much more understandable. Thanks, busy praying for the recovery and protection from. Milton

Sad about the BR Parkway and tourist income but take care of people, housing, food, water, school, businesses and streets and roads for city and residential. So much to do to get all the basics functioning again.

If I was the present of the United States of America the contend of 500 Lowe's and Ace Hardware stores, Lowes and Tractor supply and every ranch store with buildings materials it would be purchased up by America's tax payersand heavy equipment and congrete trucks would be headed into your counties with every available buildings crew we could hire.
Emergency communications would be set up and organized courtesy of the United States Military and assistance.
That's what Paul Joseph Weaver would do.
Freedom
PB*J for President.

Blue Ridge Parkway, really! What about the towns, homes, infrastructures, water supply and massive loss of life. Pathetic news.
