This medication was prescribed for me 30 years ago and saved me from crippling ankylosing spondylitis and arthritis. Trouble is: After 30 years it's destroying my kidneys. That's OK, because I'm grateful for the years of mobility this medication has given me. Kidney damage causing me to snuff it slightly sooner is an acceptable trade-off. Nobody lives forever. Kicking the bucket a bit sooner is a worthwhile trade off for my 30 years of mobility, and I remain a fan.

i recently got diagnosed with Inflammatory Arthritis at 18, which i think my rheumatologist is suspecting RA. i take 500mg sulfasalazine, 2 morning, 2 nightly, and its made my morning stiffness and nighttime pain much more manageable. the only downside i find is the really awful heartburn and indigestion. im also on celecoxib 200mg twice daily and im hoping it'll continue to make my pain more manageable. ive had to stop my studies because of this and no longer work, i really hope things will start to look up for me given my treatment

Hello doctor. After years on leflunomide, then Xeljanz im on sulfasalazine (for ankylosing spondylitis & psoriatic arthritis). A few days ago I started experiencing shortness of breath (maybe it started with a lip swelling). Im afraid this med won’t be working either 😢will this side effect go away?

I have been diagnosed by Infectious colitis and I was prescribed withs sulfasalazine 500mg 3/day.But I get flare ups even if I miss a single dose.what should I do?!

Hi,

Can anybody who has been treated for reactive arthritis with sulfasalazine please let me know their experience.
I don’t want to be on this drug for life. My doctor says there is a good chance I will have to be on it for a long period but there is also a chance I only have to be on it for 6 months and then may be able to get off them.

Has anybody had success taking it for short period of time? And has they’re arthritis returned since they have stop taking them.

Any feed back is much appreciated. Thanks

hi doctor i started to take it since 12 days as an alternative of methotrexate and i feel my back hurts a lot since 4 days, what is the reason ?

I had to quit taking it after 2 weeks because I had a bad migraine every day. I also had bad heartburn that nothing would help. After 2 days off of it no headache or heartburn. On to the next RA drug.

How long sulfusalazine can be taken ? What i mean is the maximum number of years without having any side-effects. Because i am taking it for last 5 years for ulcerative colitis. As i discontinue my symptoms are back . So i am dependent on this medication
