In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we delve into Nordic Armor & Weapons.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.

The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

The book "Children of the Sky" mentions sharpening blades with Thu'um. Perhaps that's how ancient nords used to "enchant" their weapons and pickaxes?

Still coming strong with TES lore. I've unsubbed from most TES lore channels I was interested in, they've either stagnated or moved on to other topics but you guys are still bringing it big time.

*“And the scrolls foretold, of black wings in the cold, and when brothers wage war come unfurled! Alduin, bane of kings, ancient shadow unbound, with a hunger to swallow the world!”* -Old Nord proverb

4:38 The secret is clearly that because he walks and smiths in reverse, the steel forgets that it's supposed to be inferior, and in it's confusion, it empowers itself.

Bethesda is following the Nords example of going from amazing work to a stagnant group that just reminisce about their days of glory

The Skyforge is one of the most fascinating mysteries to ponder on in Skyrim, and The Elder Scrolls. If the Snow Elves were afraid of it enough to steer clear of its gaze, then WHO built it? Could it be a creation of the Old Ehlnofey? Or the greater Et’Ada, when Magnus still walked the plane of Mundus? Or was it created after Magnus escaped back to Aetherius with the majority of Original Spirits(Et’Ada) and tore through the material plane creating the sun & stars? Could it have been created by the same ones who built the Adamantine Tower? It’s amazing how depthless the world of the Elder Scrolls is the more you think about it!

In fairness on the Ancient Nordic weapons and armor, I imagine that it was probably the armor of the regular foot soldier, or at least the ones who could afford it. After all, what are all the Draugr all wearing and using? Ancient Nordic stuff. As such, I imagine that it isn't very good, because that's all that either they could afford, or that is all that could be provided to them.

As you can see on higher level (and probably more important people in life) Draugr, they start wielding Ebony weaponry at higher levels in Skyrim, ergo, it does make sense that the Ancient Nordic stuff isn't that great, because that's the only thing they could afford to really get.

Just realized the Quick Silver could very well be an amalgam of elemental silver and mercury which creates a really hard solid alloy.

It's too bad that Skyforge is useless in-game.

Every time I put this armor on, in my head I always remember that one episode from invader Zim, where he tells the tallest "I'm in a bear suit" 8:14

It is important to note that quicksilver was called mythril in TES III, so that's why you can make armour and weapons out of it.

So in other words, just like all the other cool things Nords used to have, the reason why this armor was so rad was because they used ancient and unique magics that they forgot and abandoned over time, and aren't too good at recreating because Modern Nords are have denser skulls than Stahlrim. See, this is what happens when you abandon Jhunal as a deity!

I wish the Skyforge was more useful in-game, like imparting a bonus to the base strength of anything smithed in it or something
