Yoel and Mari, as a low paid office worker in 1968 in San Diego, Taco Bell was very cheap. 19¢ tacos, 19¢ burritos, red or green sauce, enchirito for like $1.19 and a cup of refried beans for about 29¢. It was a cheap lunch for us at that time. I can still down my share of regular tacos with salsa because it's nostalgic for me and a comfort. I am now 75, lol. The good old days.

I am a construction worker. I worked with many Mexicans, Cubans, Dominicans etc.. We all loved taco Bell. I asked a good Mexican American friend of mine after I spent many evenings at his home eating his wife's cooking, and him doing the same at my home, why he liked Taco Bell. He responded "why do you". I had no answer. I just couldn't imagine wanting anything else in a tortilla unless his wife put it there. When he visited my home it was honestly more for my BBQ, than my wife's cooking. It is simple good ingredients and it's cheap. His wife was the best cook in the entire community and led the ladies when we had cookouts for big events. She always made the best salsa, and even the other Mexicans in the community fought over that.
