77% isn’t bad, they usually aim for 100% of not paying.

The one I can't really understand is the homeowners who keep building back. Why???

"Collect the premium
Deny the claim"

They have to have a separate policy for flood insurance, been that way for years and years, that’s why it is so costly because the hurricane coverage only covers the wind damage, it has never paid for water damage ! Are people in Florida really that ignorant? Flood insurance has always been totally separate.

Most home owners insurance nationwide does NOT cover flood insurance! This isn't just in Florida.

Flood insurance is a separate policy from home owners. Why is it that so many home owners do not know that?

One solution is—don’t live in Florida. The state is a magnet for bad weather on an annual basis.

Most people in Florida…” small government, stop the handouts to the poor, stop looking to the government for help”…hurricane hits the home THEY decided to build/buy in Florida…” please federal government give me money, this is bs”

Homeowners insurance doesn't cover flooding. It never has. My agent explained that with the first home I bought back in California (yeah, it can flood there during El Nino winters). Got my house here and the agent mentioned that before I could even ask. Shouldn't surprise or blindside anyone.

I’ll say it one more time: insurance companies are not your friend!

If you bought a home in Florida, and did NOT buy flood insurance, then you are exactly where you need to be..in the swamps.

If you want to own a home, pick another state.

This is not news; most homeowners should know that flood coverage is a separate policy, separate premium.

It's time to accept the harsh reality and MOVE OUT!

A better headline would be: 77% of Florida homeowners affected by the hurricane chose not to buy flood insurance and are not covered for damage they received. Theor wanting their homeowners to pay would be like me having no insurance on my car, totalling it then expecting my vehicle maintenance plan to pay for replacement of the wrecked car.

Homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage, that has been this way for decades, you have to buy a federal flood insurance policy for flood coverage. This is a none story.

I have flood insurance, I wouldn’t expect my homeowners to cover that, and fema shouldn’t pay for people that didn’t buy insurance.

No u.s. tax payers should be paying for Floridians insurance claims.
