Ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy where the fertilised egg implants outside the uterus commonly in the tubes. The risk of ectopic pregnancy among the intrauterine contraception device users is 2.9 to 4.5 times more compared to the non-users, bacteria ascends up the thread of the intrauterine contraceptive device, associated if there is a sexually transmitted disease, these can climb up or ascend up and cause fallopian tube infection leading to swelling, clumping and bleeding and because of this there is pelvic inflammatory disease thereby increasing the risk of ectopic pregnancy.
