I like these "chat" type videos. You guys should do them more often with all of the different people around the office. That way we get to know them more.

@jacklental of course its better, its newer and the technology wasn't their at the time, but that wasn't the point i was making. i was saying that kinect basically did what eye toy was doing just not as advanced.

The only real potential I see with Kinect implies we have 1:1 tracking with the device. If we were to have a 3D television, and Kinect, which allows us to interact with the game in three dimensional space- THAT would make for some pretty unique, interactive experiences. Imagine a RPG with full voice command, facial recognition, and three dimensional interactivity- you recah out to your buddy to pat him on the back, bow to a king while you visit a far away castle...

@blackhorse1988

Those aren't the designers. They're employees of IGN.

@Emblemz Thats a neat thought, but should we use our hands to shoot? or should we like have your hands in a position where you pull back and you shoot.(2 is the idea i think is best, but 1 is sorta neat too

the main problem with Kinect is that it has trouble recognize you when you are sitting down. This is mainly a problem for navigating the connect hub. Who wants to stand up and wave, then go to what you want then sit back down... I know it has voice command but I just wish it could recognize you when sitting. I think this problem will be a barrier to having any hardcore game use kinect. A 15 hour action game that you have to stand up for??? Not gonna fly with most.

I think Kinect with a controller could be awesome in a horror game. Imagine there is something in a trash can or something and you lean forward to see what it is, Kinect notices it and makes the monster appear. Could also be cool with head tracking in other games.

Imagine playing Mass Effect with hybrid Kinect plus controllers!

-No more choosing what to say! just say it and Shepard follows.
-Shotting parts could be played with controllers
-Some bionic powers, like push, could be also used with Kinect

THAT WOULD BE SO SICK!

@MrVidau 27 and married. I've played with both at work, Microcenter in St Louis Park, MN. The move totally failed to impress me. It's just a Wii knock off that has issues functioning in the exact same environment the Wii is in. The displays are about 20 ft apart. Kinect bugs out from time to time, but it's usually after some kid messes with the sensor. I'm not getting either one any time soon, but so far the Kinect seems to work better. At least at the store.

@infernapeawsome15 I've been playing with Move and Kinect at work. Both have flaws, but Kinect has been a far smoother to operate system than Move. We are constantly having to recalibrate the move and I have yet to get it to work properly for me. As long as we can keep people form touching the Kinect sensor, it works pretty flawlessly most of the time.

Well I did buy a dancing pad when I bought DDR for consoles. I wouldn't mind buying Kinect for dance central right now. As time passes I'm sure there will be better games, but surely, they HAVE to fix this lag issue (if that is even possible to be fixed)

i'm not saying that kinect has no chance with the hard core. i would definitely like to see it work. the same can be said for any other motion control.

HOWEVER: Move is going to get ape escape move, and considering how ape escape 1 innovated ps1 dualshock controls, this could be a big release to show the full potential of move. Wiimotion plus is going to get Zelda Skyward Sword, which judging from hands-ons this will also be big. To me kinect is currently lackluster compared to the competition.

its only a matter of time before ps3 steals the idea and perfects it

@jordanthewizard same with all motion controllers

@nbarnechea negative. the move took 7 years to develop. if you've played the wii, the move is much more accurate and precise. with the kinect, there is only so much you can only do with kicking, punching, and jumping. the controller on the other hand for the move can expand on that with giving you buttons to press for special moves. the kinect is just too bare bone. rumor is you can't even play a golf game on the kinect cause the camera won't pick up your swing when hands go infront of body

@bbernard99 It is definitely not the same. With the wii and move you just stand in the same place moving your wrist. With kinect you really have to move and do the right poses. Have you played table tenis in kinect? You will be surprised how much accurate to reality is.
